A man was arrested at a bank in Portadown after a vulnerable male withdrew a large sum of cash on Thursday afternoon.
The alleged victim had a man stand over him as he withdrew the cash for work carried out at their home.
However, banking protocols alerted staff to the suspicious behaviour before police were called.
Portadown councillor David Jones praised the staff who spotted what was happening.
“Police received a call yesterday afternoon from a local bank in Portadown regarding a vulnerable male who was withdrawing a large amount of cash,” councillor Jones explained.
“Banking protocol was activated and police arrested one male who had brought the victim to the bank.
“The suspect had been doing work at the vulnerable person’s home.
“This is a result of cold calling where people arrive at a home looking to tarmac or powerwash your drive.
“Good work by the teller who identified the signs. Report suspicious activity to Police on 101.”
