Thanks to the quick actions of residents there was nobody injured following a fire at two properties in Portadown over the weekend.
Eight crews from six different stations attended the blaze on Goban Street on Saturday evening.
The roof space of two mid-terraced properties caught on fire but according to the fire service, it was the quick actions of those inside, which helped avert potential tragedy.
Around 40 firefighters tackled the inferno for just over three hours. The fire, first reported at 8.13pm was dealt with by 11.21pm.
Residents from nearby properties were evacuated at the time.
Eight fire Appliances attended the incident; two from Lurgan, one from Banbridge, one from Springfield, one from Armagh, one from Dungannon and two from Lisburn.
A NIFRS spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called to a fire in the roofspace of two mid-terrace properties.
“Firefighters used four jets to extinguish the fire. The incident was dealt with by 11.21pm and the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental ignition.”
A PSNI spokesperson said it attended fire at a number of properties in Goban Street, Portadown.
“We want to thank residents and other members of the public for their patience and assistance.
“We are pleased to report no one was injured in the fire.”
