A Portadown man who pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm without a licence will have to wait until next month to hear his fate.

Court heard a charge of possession of ammunition which the 47-year-old previously faced had been withdrawn.

William Andrew McDade, of Clendinning, pleaded guilty to the single charge of possessing a firearm without a certificate at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Upon hearing this, District Judge Bernie Kelly quickly stated: “Well, I will most certainly need a pre-sentence report for this one.”

The case will return on July 17 when McDade will be sentenced.
