Police in Portadown have arrested a man and a woman in relation to a number of thefts from retail premises across the province.
Police received a report at noon yesterday (Thursday) of a sighting of a man and woman who had been involved in previous thefts from chemist shops.
A description of the pair were circulated and police received a further report of the pair running along William Street at 1pm.
Officers on patrol identified themselves to the pair and they made off.
Police gave chase on foot and a 26-year-old female was detained.
She was arrested on suspicion of theft in relation to thefts in Magherafelt, Cookstown and Portadown.
Members of the public reported a man in Shillington Street and police arrested a 31-year-old man in relation to theft, four outstanding bench warrants, a money warrant and breach of bail.
The woman was interviewed and later arrested on bail pending further enquiries. The man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
