PWRing frontline wellbeing: Portadown studio offers free Reformer Pilates class for Blue Light holders!

PWRHOUSE Pilates are currently running a special offer providing a free Reformer Pilates class for Blue Light Card holders from June 1 to June 8!

A Reformer Pilates studio looking to show appreciation to those working in healthcare, emergency services and other frontline roles is offering a free class for any Blue Light card holders.

Established in December 2024 by owner Emma Haughian, PWRHOUSE Pilates became the first dedicated Reformer Pilates studio in Lurgan.

With many clients regularly travelling from Portadown to attend classes, the business expanded in April 2026, opening a second studio in Portadown.

The new Portadown location on Meadows Lane, close to the Portadown Health Centre and just a short distance from Craigavon Area Hospital, has proven particularly popular with healthcare workers looking for a form of exercise that fits around demanding shift patterns.

The studio looks to give back to the healthcare workers, emergency services personnel and key workers who support local communities every day.

And now, PWRHOUSE Pilates are currently running a special offer providing a free Reformer Pilates class for Blue Light Card holders from June 1 to June 8!

Emma discovered a love for Pilates after being involved in a car accident several years ago leaving her with persistent back pain.

After trying a range of different therapies to help ease her pain, it was reformer Pilates that brought the best relief, eventually helping her become completely pain free.

Seeing the results first hand of the benefits of Pilates, Emma became so passionate about the low-intensity exercise that she wanted to learn everything about it, training as an instructor in 2023.

Speaking of her journey to opening PWRHOUSE, Emma said: “Reformer Pilates has grown massively in popularity over the past number of years.

“Industry reports show demand for Reformer Pilates classes continuing to surge across the UK as more people discover its benefits for strength, mobility, posture and overall wellbeing.

“When I first fell in love with Reformer Pilates myself, I knew I wanted to learn as much as possible about it and bring it to my local town.”

“Opening our first studio in Lurgan was a huge milestone, and after seeing so many clients travelling from Portadown to attend classes, opening our second studio there felt like the natural next step.

“Since launching the Portadown studio, which also includes a dedicated hot yoga and Pilates space, we have gone from strength to strength.”

The PWRHOUSE team quickly noticed a significant number of healthcare professionals attending classes, particularly before and after shifts.

Emma continued: “Being located beside the Health Centre and so close to Craigavon Area Hospital means we’ve welcomed many nurses, doctors and healthcare staff through our doors.

“We hear first-hand just how challenging and demanding their roles can be. Many tell us that Reformer Pilates gives them an opportunity to exercise after long shifts on their feet while also helping them slow down, reset and calm their nervous system.”

One of those healthcare professionals is Emergency Department Consultant Laura Williamson, a monthly member at PWRHOUSE.

Said Dr Laura: “As an Emergency Medicine Consultant, I knew I needed to find a way to de-stress and invest in my own health and wellbeing, and I found exactly that at PWRHOUSE Pilates.

“It has been fantastic for both my physical and mental wellbeing. Since joining, I’ve felt stronger, more flexible, and much more balanced in everyday life.

“I’m absolutely delighted to see the Blue Light Card offer, making these amazing classes even more accessible.”

For anyone thinking of giving Pilates a go, Emma’s advice is simple: “My advice is just start and give it a go. We offer an introductory package of two classes for £20.

“One of the biggest misconceptions is that you need to be fit, flexible or experienced before you begin. Reformer Pilates is truly for everyone. Our clients range in age from 16 to 76, and many come to us with injuries, health conditions or physical limitations.

“We pride ourselves on being able to adapt and modify exercises to suit every individual. We meet you where you are, so there’s no need to feel nervous or intimidated. We also offer Hot Pilates and Hot yoga in our Portadown infrared Hot studio which has proven to be extremely popular and has several health benefits.”

Emma concluded: “The response has been incredible. We wanted to show our appreciation to those working in healthcare, emergency services and other frontline roles, and we’ve been blown away by how many people have already expressed an interest.

“We hope this gives people an opportunity to try Reformer Pilates for themselves and experience the benefits that so many of our members enjoy every week.”

The free class promotion runs from June 1 to June 8 and is available to all valid Blue Light Card holders, subject to availability and is available for use in our Portadown studio.

For more information or to book a free class, Blue Light Card holders are encouraged to contact PWRHOUSE Pilates directly through their social media or by emailing hello@thisispwrhouse.com.
