Urgent appeal to find life-saving defibrillator stolen from outside Co Armagh shop

A life-saving defibrillator has been stolen from outside a shop in Portadown.

It was taken sometime between Friday, December 30 and yesterday, Tuesday, January 4, from outside the Spar on the corner of the Armagh and Brownstoown Roads.

It was put in place as part of a recent drive by Spar and Eurospar stores here to install defibrillators outside their premises for the good of the community and in a bid to save lives.

Police in Craigavon are currently studying CCTV and are appealing for information.

In an appeal via social media, they state: “This may have been someones idea of a drunken prank. It certainly isn’t funny, and has left no one laughing.

“Obviously, we would be very keen to speak to the person responsible, however our number one role is to protect life, and therefore it follows that our priority here is to get this device back. Someone out there knows something about this. If you know who has it, lets get this life-saving device recovered and back where it belongs- protecting the community.

“Again, our priority is to have this device returned. I’m sure community reps or indeed anyone else with a conscience would be all too glad to take possession of it and return it. If however you know who has it and want to let us know- call 101.

“The incident number is 427 of 03/01/17. If you would rather speak to someone anonymously you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
