A south Armagh GAA club has confirmed that four of its players have tested positive for Covid-19.

Killeavy has halted all activities and is asking that senior players connected to the club get tested as a matter of urgency.

The club confirmed on Friday that one player had tested positive and added: “According to protocol, we have no option but to shut down all club activities and the gates of the club will be locked from this afternoon.

“Public Health has been informed and they will now be carrying out a test and trace operation.

“I would ask all our members to cooperate with Public Health if required. The Armagh County Board has also been informed and all fixtures across all codes will be postponed until further notice.

“We wish our player well and hope for a full and speedy recovery.”

Killeavy GAA has since provided an update to confirm the club has “received notice of four positive COVID tests associated with our playing members”.

It released a statement this weekend from chairman Michael O’Neill which confirmed the news.

And it added: “We are encouraging all senior players to arrange for themselves to be tested as soon as possible.

“We confirm that all our weekend fixtures have been postponed and we would like to thank Armagh County Board, Armagh Ladies Board and the Granemore, Dorsey, Keady, Crossmaglen and Dromintee clubs for their understanding and assistance.”
