Councillor Áine Quinn has welcomed confirmation that progress is being made on plans for a new bridge through Mullaghbawn.
The Sinn Féin representative has described the latest developments as a positive step for local residents and pedestrian safety.
Councillor Quinn said she has been engaging directly with council officials and has received confirmation that work is actively underway to finalise the specification and design of the new bridge.
“We have been progressing this project since November 2023, and it is very positive to see it moving into the next phase,” she said.
“Our community deserves a safe, accessible bridge to support local pedestrians travelling through the area, and this represents real progress.”
The proposed bridge is aimed at improving safety and accessibility within the village, while also enhancing the overall appearance of Mullaghbawn.
Discussions are ongoing between the council and statutory bodies to ensure the necessary works can be delivered.
Councillor Quinn said the project remains a priority and pledged to continue pressing for progress as plans move forward.
“I will continue to maintain momentum on this issue and ensure residents are kept fully updated as the project advances,” she added.
Further updates are expected as design and specification work continues.
