Police believe that a Volkswagen Amarok, which was stolen in Monaghan, has been used in a crimewave stretching across Counties Armagh, Down and Tyrone.
And an investigating officer has said it is clear criminals are travelling freely across the border and committing crimes in both jurisdictions.
Detectives in Newry want to trace the movements of the Volkswagen Amarok which was clocked at the scene of burglaries and attempted burglaries in Keady, Warrenpoint, Crossmaglen and Dungannon.
On Thursday, May 21, a silver Mitsubishi Shogun and silver tri-axle Ivor Williams trailer were stolen from Dungannon Farmers Mart at around 3.40pm.
It is believed the silver Volkswagen Amarok pick-up vehicle – which was reported at stolen from Monaghan on the same date – was involved in this theft.
Between Thursday, May 21 and Sunday, May 24, a number of burglaries and thefts were reported involving the Volkswagen Amarok.
Shortly before 1am on Saturday, May 23, business premises on Davis Street, Keady were broken into.
A blue Toyota Hiace was stolen from a filling station on Concession Road, Crossmaglen at around 8.30pm on on Friday, May 22. A
And at around 11.50pm on May 23, the silver Amarok rammed gates of two premises in Milltown Industrial Estate, Warrenpoint.
An attempt was also made to break into one of these premises.
Detective Constable Mandy Campbell said: “We are investigating a number of offences linked to the stolen Volkswagen Amarok.
“On Friday, 22 May, we recovered a black Citroen C4, which had been stolen from the Republic of Ireland, and the silver Mitsubishi Shogun which had been stolen from Dungannon, parked on Concession Road in Crossmaglen.
“The silver Volkswagen Amarok was found abandoned in a car park at the bus centre on The Mall, Newry on Sunday night, 24 May.
“It is clear that the criminals involved are travelling freely across the border and committing crime in both jurisdictions.
“We would like to hear from anyone who observed the silver Volkswagen Amarok and can help us trace its movements. We would also like to hear from anyone who can assist our investigation. We can be contacted in Newry on 101.”
