Emergency services at scene of suspected plane crash in Tandragee

An emergency operation is underway at an airfield in Tandragee this afternoon (Tuesday).

There are reports of a plane crash at Kernan.

It is believed that a microlight aircraft has come off the runway and crashed into trees.

Police, ambulance and fire crews have been tasked to the scene this afternoon.

Ambulance and fire said the incident is ongoing and statements will be released in due course.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a crash involving a small aircraft in the Mullahead Road area of Tandragee, Co Armagh, at around 1.15pm today, Tuesday, January 30.

“Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance at the scene.

“There are no reports of any serious injuries at this time. The Air Accident Investigations Branch has been informed of the incident.”
