The Rug House managers, Paul and Clare Vallely, travelled to the world’s flagship trade fair for carpets and floor coverings in Hannover last week to help bring fresh ideas and products into their thriving business.
DOMETEX 2015 was held in Deutsche Messe, an arena which boasts 466,100 square meters of covered indoor space, making it the largest Exhibition Centre in the world. This was an Ideal location for everybody involved, considering 40,000 visitors travelled from across the world to attend the four day event.
The fair was staged in 12 separate halls, with 1,323 manufacturers taking the opportunity to exhibit their products and offer advice to existing and potential business partners.
The sibling managers began their trip with other senior staff members on January 16, and arrived in Hannover that evening. After taking time to settle in and revise over their plans they made the trip to Deutsche Messe. Paul admits that they were all blown away by the sheer capacity of the event.
“We carried out the appropriate research before making the trip, but when you’re standing there with it all in front of you, that’s when you realise just how big this industry is.
“We realised that we didn’t have too much time on our hands to stand and admire, so we immediately got to work, and went searching for new ideas and products which we hope will satisfy our customers in the coming months.”
The Rug House’s reputation is clearly expanding at an outstanding rate, recent successes at award ceremonies, a growing work force, and most importantly their customer reviews can confirm that. But Paul Vallely doesn’t want to be caught slacking now that things are running smoothly.
“It’s crucial that we attend events like DOMETEX, Clare and myself have been working in this business for many years now, over time we’ve realised that you’ve always got more to learn and need to be willing to try new ideas.
“That’s exactly what we’re going to do, we want to widen our range and offer something new. Fortunately we got to meet a number of top quality manufacturers who not only showed us some fine products, but have been added to our list of contacts which could come in very useful in the future.
“We certainly have a lot to take in, but the team will get together and carefully decide on what our next step should be, we’re thinking about adding wood flooring and carpeting to our selection, just early ideas, but they could very well be on offer in the next six months.”
