A substantial sponsorship offer for Armagh’s Georgian Day celebrations has been made by Tourism Northern Ireland.
The event, which this year takes place on Saturday, November 28, will be able to proceed with all of the usual attractions – and then some!
The letter of offer was received by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s economic development and regeneration committee.
And on the proposal of SF Councillor Garath Keating, seconded by Ulster Unionist Alderman Jim Speers, it was agreed to accept the offer.
There had previously been funding concerns in the past over cutbacks on Events Tourism sponsorship.
But this letter means the big celebration of all things festive – which draws tens of thousands to the city each year – means that Armagh will do Christmas with all the trimmings!
Georgian Day is one of the most exciting and unique days of the Christmas calendar in the Province.
Each year the city steps back in time and celebrates Christmas in a Georgian era, with market stalls offering stunning crafts and food to excite the taste buds.
The scent of warm mince pies and mulled wine – combined with the sound of local musicians and horse-drawn carriage runs – ensures a truly unique atmosphere which draws families from near and far.
And yes, we know summer’s only starting but we couldn’t resist the seasonal reminder!!!
