ENQUIRIES are continuing following the arrest of a man and woman in connection with a suspected £13,000 VAT repayment fraud linked to the motor trade in County Armagh.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) officers searched three business and a home in the Tandragee, Armagh, Loughgilly and Craigavon areas yesterday (Thursday) morning, where they seized documents, records and a quantity of cash.
The pair are currently being questioned by HMRC officers and investigations continuing.
John Whiting, HMRC assistant director for criminal Investigation, said: “HMRC takes tax fraud extremely seriously and we will not hesitate to investigate those we suspect of choosing to evade taxes or stealing public funds.
