Tynan Rector brings ‘King-sized’ Royal memorabilia exhibition to Newtown ahead of Twelfth

Those who didn’t get the opportunity to view an impressive life-long Royal Memorabilia collection in Tynan last year will be able to get a second chance in the Co Armagh town where the Twelfth of July demonstrations will be held.

The exhibition has been put together by Rector of Tynan, Aghavilly and Middletown parishes, Rev Derek Kerr.

It encompasses the Reverend’s own personal collection and boasts over 800 sets and individual items that he has amassed over a period of forty years, starting when he was just 17 years old.

The exhibition will be held in St John’s Church in Newtownhamilton over a number of dates on the lead up to the July 12 celebrations and anyone who comes along “will not be disappointed”.

The exhibition opens at 6pm on Tuesday July 7, and Rev Kerr will be on hand to give an informative talk on the Royal Family commencing at 7.30pm.

He will also explain the interesting history behind some of the artifacts.

Refreshments will be served following the talk.

The exhibition continues over the weekend with opening times as follows:

  • Friday July 10, 7pm – 9.30pm
  • Saturday July 11, 11am – 8pm
  • Sunday July 12, 2pm – 7pm

Admission is free and there will be opportunity to make a voluntary contribution. Proceeds of the event will be going towards the Church Hall Building Fund.
