World Record truck attempt getting underway shortly

Not long to go now. The excitement is building and the crowds are gathering as the annual charity funraiser that is the Skip Car Tour prepares to get underway.

At 4pm, a procession of trucks, vintage vehicles and even a traditional red double decker bus will be setting on the road from Basil Sheils in Tassagh.

Organisers are hoping for more than 500 trucks to take part and to smash the Guinness World Record.

And it’s all in a good cause, with proceeds as usual going to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The Skip Car Tour Orchard Truck Run will make for a fantastic sight as it winds its way through our local towns and villages before reaching Armagh City, expected around 6pm, and returning to Tassagh.

The trucks will leave at 4pm from Tassagh and make their way through Keady, Newtownhamilton, Markethill, Clady, passing Ferla Crossroads and on towards Armagh.

When in Armagh, the cavalcade moves through the city, along Irish Street and on to the Moy Road, out past the site of the old Drumsill Hotel and back in along the Drumcairn Road. It will pass up Mall West, along Barrack Street and back out Friary Road, as it returns to Sheils.

At Basil Sheils there will be plenty of entertainment, including live music.

Motorists may experience delays today but it is hoped to smash a World Record and raise as much money as possible for a fantastic cause!

The best of luck to all involved today!
