Ballyhegan are celebrating after clinching victory in the final of the Armagh GAA Ladies Seniors Junior Championship final at the Athletic Grounds on Saturday evening.
It was a hard fought game for both teams with the first half seeing barely a point either way.
Ballyhegan fought a hard defence as did Mullabrack with attacks forward also from both teams whilst maintaining a strong defence.
The second half was more intense with teams striving for the goal line; Ballyhegan were first past the keeper taking the score to 1-06 to 0-05.
Mullabrack fought back to tighen the gap with a goal taking the score to an almost even 1-06 to 1-05 in Ballyhegan’s favour.
The fight was on with only a point between the teams, but Ballyhegan added another goal to take the score to 2-06 to 2-05, but Mullabrack replied with another taking the scoreline again a a single point margin.
In what was a nailbiting final for all in attendance the game was anybody’s.
But the final whistle blew after a minute of injury time, taking Ballyhegan Davitts to victory.
Both teams were well matched and their game showed why they were in this championship final.
