Clady will host a stage of the Mourne Rally tomorrow (Saturday).
SDLP Cusher Councillor Sharon Haughey-Grimley said the area is “an ideal location for a rally stage as the roads are so narrow with many hills and bends”.
She added: “Its great that once again Clady has been chosen for a rally stage.
“However, it is vital that local people pay attention to the marshalls and help keep safety a top priority. On those houses along the route and those close-by I appeal to adults to keep children, animals and family pets at a safe distance.
“The roads will be closed as per the Police notices so I urge local residents to prepare ahead if they need to travel and if they do please listen to the advice of the marshalls. The marshalls are all volunteers, many local, and they are there for your safety.”
“Above all, I hope local people enjoy seeing the rally travelling through Clady as it promises to be quite a spectacle and I wish all drivers well.”
