The red carpet beckons for Armagh actor Colin Morgan as his latest big screen outing gets its UK premiere tomorrow night (Thursday).
Colin will be off to Leicester Square for the fantastic new gritty thriller ‘Legend’, based on the life of the notorious London gangsters The Krays.
It’s not the first time that Ronnie and Reggie have been immortalised on film; they were famously portrayed by Gary and Martin Kemp 25 years ago.
But this time Tom Hardy will play both brothers, who ran their own back street gang empire – known as The Firm – which terrorised London in the 50s and 60s.
The mobsters were finally jailed in 1969 for the murder of fellow gangsters Jack ‘The Hat McVitie and George Cornell.
Written by Brian Helgeland, who also wrote the screenplay for the Oscar-winning LA Confidential, Colin lines up in an all-star cast, alongside Emily Browning, Christopher Eccleston, David Thewlis and Chazz Palminteri.
Emily Browning plays Reggie’s first wife Frances Shea, and Colin is Frankie Shea – Frances’ brother and Reggie’s brother-in-law to be.
The movie will get its general release from next Wednesday, September 9.
And Omniplex Cinemas has already scheduled it.
It will be shown locally next Wednesday, at Armagh Omniplex, at 8.50pm; at Craigavon Omniplex at 9.10pm; and there will be two screenings on Wednesday at Newry Omniplex, in the Quays Shopping Centre, at 6.10pm and 8.50pm.
As expected, the movie carries an 18 certificate.
