Home-grown talent at The Market Place

THE Market Place Theatre in Armagh will be playing host over the coming weeks to local artists who will be displaying their talents in music and acting.

‘Kan’ is a union of four of the finest, most influential, award-winning, in demand artists of the 21st century traditional music. Kan is a unique melding of the bold and beautiful flute virtuosity of Brian Finnegan, from Armagh, with the expressive and daring fiddle deftness of Aidan O’Rourke, cemented by the organic and intuitive drumming of James Goodwin and the unfettered, playful guitar reinventions of Ian Stephenson.

Between them they’ve recorded and performed with the likes of Kate Rusby, Cara Dillon, BBC Philharmonic, Liverpool Philharmonic, Kathryn Tickell, Northern Sinfonia, Wayne Shorter, Eddi Reader, Sting, OMD, Katherine Jenkins, and many more. Don’t miss this opportunity to see one of the most original, distinctive and spellbinding bands out there. Kan will perform at The Market Place Theatre on Thursday 11th April at 8pm. Tickets are priced £14.

One of Northern Ireland’s leading amateur groups, Armagh Theatre Group, will present Bernard Farrell’s award-winning comedy ‘Forty-Four Sycamore’ from Thursday 11th to Saturday 13th April at 8pm each evening. Armagh Theatre Group was founded in 1965, and since then has presented a huge variety of plays, all of which have been widely acclaimed.

‘Forty-Four Sycamore’ gives a frantic account of a dinner party involving two upwardly mobile young couples. Everything seems to be going according to plan until it emerges that another guest has been invited – one who is not entirely welcome. The party goes rapidly downhill from there with hilarious, if sometimes frightening, consequences.

Tickets for ‘Forty-Four Sycamore’ are priced £10 and £8 (concession). Tickets for all performances can be booked by contacting the Box Office on [028] 3752 1821, or online atwww.marketplacearmagh.com
