Jazz and strings at the Market Place Theatre this April

Why not treat a loved one to a night of great music at the ever-popular Jazz Club at Armagh’s Market Place Theatre on Saturday 21 April?

Taking centre stage this time will be the hugely popular Martello Jazz Band who feature a sound reminiscent of the Dixieland bands of 1920’s New Orleans, stamped with their own brand of drive and flair.

A great pre-Christmas night out with friends. Tickets are priced £12 which includes a beer or glass of wine.

For a contemporary and unique take on classical music, Arco String Quartet is renowned for pushing the boundaries of the string tradition.

Specialising in the arrangement and performance of all music genres, particularly rock and pop, their very own string arrangements, as well as collaborations with other leading Irish composers and arrangers has led to them recording and performing with many exciting artists.

All the players, members of The Ulster Orchestra and the finest players in Ireland, are graduates of major music conservatories in England and Ireland, and have performed all over the world, as far afield as China, USA, Malaysia and South Africa, with orchestras including The Ulster Orchestra, The RTE National Symphony Orchestra, The RTE Concert Orchestra, Camerata Ireland, The Irish Chamber Orchestra, The Halle Orchestra, The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, English National Opera, and Scottish Opera.

The group’s versatile sound and friendly attitude has made them a favourite with stars of both the pop and classical world.

They have performed alongside artists such as Duke Special, Pavarotti, Russell Watson, Sir Bob Geldof, Peter Corry, Rod Stewart, Daniel O’Donnell, The Divine Comedy and Ronan Keating.

They enjoy a varied schedule, dividing their time between the recording studio and the concert platform, as well as performing at private events.

Arco String Quartet will perform on Sunday 29 April. Tickets are priced £15 which includes light refreshments.
