£55,000 revamped play park officially opened in Middletown

On Monday December 16, the play park at Ivy Park, Middletown was officially re opened after an investment of £55,000, funded by Armagh City and District Council.

Officers from Armagh City and District Council, worked in partnership with Middletown and District Community Development Association to create an exciting modern play area for children of all ages. The play park provides a challenging, fun and safe environment, while, encouraging interaction and creative play.

Chairperson of Middletown and District Community Development Association, Mr John Mone said: “I’m delighted to see the opening of such a fun, interactive and most importantly, a safe place for local children to play. Creating and maintaining these spaces is crucial in keeping our children active”.

Councillors of Crossmore Ward added: “Regular active play is so important to the future health of our children. Providing first class play facilities is vital to encourage our children and young people outdoors, away from the television and video games, and get involved in energetic play activities. Children need somewhere to go that is fun, attractive and safe, the new play area at Ivy Park ticks all of these boxes.”

The new play park equipment includes, four seat seesaw, double swing unit, accessible pod swing and a multi play unit. New seating is also included. Specialist playground equipment company, Crawford Group, supplied and installed the new equipment.

The whole community is encouraged to come along and enjoy the new play park.
