Plans for a 24-hour unmanned filling station on the main Armagh to Portadown Road will be recommended for approval next week.
The proposed development – exclusively revealed by Armagh I last November – has been earmarked for the old Crew Catt filling station near Richhill.
Planning officials have now studied the application and will recommend the work be allowed to proceed.
That will be the opinion going to next Wednesday’s meeting of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s planning and regulatory services committee.
The development is part of an ongoing expansion plan by the Cookstown-based Lissan Coal Company.
The company, which was founded in 1986, operates a chain of ‘pay at the pump’ stations under its ‘Go’ brand.
The approved development will see a new forecourt canopy constructed and there would be three fuel pumps provided, together with associated site works and boundaries.
The application was submitted in October of last year and was advertised publicly in November.
But the developer came back with an amended proposal in the middle of December.
Permission was then also sought to install an ATM cash dispenser at the site.
That too is now being approved as part of the overall site plans.
An LED-lit totem structure will alert passing motorists and display prices.
The Co Tyrone business, owned by the Loughran family, branched out to extend the range of fuels available to customers.
It now has 35 ‘Go’ stations across Northern Ireland and the Republic, the first having opened in Belfast.
Last August, planning approval was given for another facility in Holywood, Co Down.
With approval expected to be passed without any objection this week, work should get underway in the next few months and the new unmanned service station open later in the year.
