An Armagh man who is accused of making multiple indecent photographs of children will face Crown Court proceedings in March.
The 44-year-old appeared at the city’s Magistrates’, sitting at Newry, on Tuesday for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
Richard Campbell, of Bracknagh Road, is charged with 15 counts of making indecent photographs, five counts of possession of a prohibited image of a child and five counts of possession of an extreme pornographic image.
As these charges were read, it was heard that the offences were alleged to have occurred between April 22, 2014, and and March 14, 2017.
Appearing in court, Campbell made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence solicitor Joseph McVeigh made no contrary submissions.
Deputy District Judge Philip Mateer said that he was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer.
The defendant was released on his own bail of £500 to appear before Newry Crown Court on March 2 for arraignment.
