A man accused of burgling a Portadown house before making off with a phone and cash will face Crown Court proceedings next month.
The 46-year-old appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ on Friday for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
Pedro Miguel Queiros, of Cathedral Road in Armagh, is charged with one single count of burglary.
As these charges were read, it was heard that the offence is alleged to have occurred on June 16, 2019.
The defendant is accused of entering an address on Obins Street in Portadown as a trespasser and stealing a Samsung Galaxy phone and cash therein.
Appearing via in court, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence barrister Aaron Thompson made no contrary submissions.
Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer and Queiros was released on his own bail of £500 to appear before Craigavon Crown Court on February 18 for arraignment.
