Cattle stolen from stricken farmer ALL recovered thanks to YOU

The 20 cattle stolen from a county Armagh farmer who lay ill in hospital have ALL been recovered — more than a month after they were taken.

Gilbert Dougan, 62, was hospitalised with pneumonia earlier in January, which is when callous thieves struck at his farmyard in Newtownhamilton.

A mix of Charolais, Simmental and Black Whiteheads ranging from 350kg to 450kg were lifted.

Hundreds of you shared the appeal on social media, an appeal that has paid the greatest dividends.

His daughter Emma, contacted Armagh I at the time, looking for the public’s help in recovering the animals.

Six weeks later and each of the cows have been accounted for.

Speaking to Armagh I, Emma said:”It’s great news that we found the remaining four cows over the weekend. I just want to thank you and  everyone who helped us in the search for them.

“Only for people’s help we may never have got them back. We can’t thank people enough.”

She added: “Daddy’s much better and is hoping to get back to work in the coming days. The publicity really helped in this case for definite, and only for people getting in contact with us we may still be looking for them.”
