We are Heracles Foundation Limited focussed on Money Management due to problems caused by debts & financial issues.
We began Project F.I.S.H (Financial Instruction Service Heracles) last year and was supported by The Community Fund.
At Freshers week we were invited to through SRC, we gained the interest of over 300 students and Tutors. We delivered our money management classes and then went on to instruct at SWC Dungannon where our course was filmed by the BBC Newsline.
Since then we are now fully booked for October.
Financial instruction is supposed to be a part of the curriculum, but schools have limited timetables and tutors for this, so we offer a voluntary service.
Eventually, we hope the tutors will be able to deliver our course directly within the classrooms.
We offer assistance to all that attend for up to a 5-year period (Covering 15 – 25 year olds) during a very important learning curve of their financial future. They can call, email or pop in and we will attempt to steer them in the right direction with banks, loans, savings etc.
The flip side of that coin are the amount of homeless on the streets today. No financial education was given years ago, not that homelessness is always caused by finance, but it is a huge factor.
We have now begun Project Roof and so we are putting on a festival called Roof Aid on the 28th of September at The Shambles Yard Armagh, to begin raising money.
The aim is to raise money so we can get ‘Match Funding’ from various funders. This will enable us to lease/rent or buy land and build stepping stone homes then, permanent homes for those who today, are Home Less.
Homeless people will be invited to be a part of the build giving them a sense of pride in their home and giving them new life set skills. Enabling them to get back into work and the society.
We will offer financial education so they can understand or re-learn how to afford their home and balance ‘home v living’ money.
We really need support and volunteers plus of course, people buying tickets and attending the festival!
There will be Irish & Country music, Dance competitions, Best dressed competitions, Children’s area, Stalls, Hog roast, food stands and, of course, a bar courtesy of The Viva Bar Armagh.
Fun for the whole family for an amazing cause. Every little helps! Heracles….Here for you.
