Friends and family of tragic Caitlin Green to walk from Belfast to Gilford in her memory

During the time of her disappearance, they say they were 'so fortunate' to receive support from Community Rescue Service, to whom all proceeds of the effort will be donated

A friend of tragic Gilford woman, Cailtin Green has organised a ‘Memory Walk’ to give thanks to the “incredible” charity who tirelessly sought to bring her home.

Twenty-four-year-old, mum-of-two, Caitlin ‘Caity’ Green went missing after leaving a friend’s house in the Lurgan area on January 31.

Her disappearance sparked widespread concern and community search efforts began almost immediately.

Sadly, Caitlin’s body was discovered in the Princess Street area of the town exactly one week later on February 7.

Now, a friend of Caitlin’s, Robyn Foster, has launched a fundraising effort to support the volunteer-led charity that worked in all weather and at all hours to find the young mum.

The event has been called ‘Caitlin’s Memory Walk’ and will see her grieving family and friends walk the long trek from Belfast to Gilford (over 26 miles).

A GoFundMe page set up to collate funds explains: “In February 2026, we lost our beautiful Caitlin.

“Caitlin was an incredible mummy to her two precious babies, a loving daughter, a devoted sister, and a loyal friend. She was caring, kind, and deeply loved. Losing her was the greatest shock of our lives — and a pain we know we will carry forever.

“Caitlin was missing for a week. It was the longest, most heart-breaking week we have ever endured. The fear, the uncertainty, and the waiting are things no family should ever have to experience.”

During that time, they say they were “so fortunate” to receive support from Community Rescue Service.

“The dedication and compassion they showed Caitlin’s family and friends will never be forgotten,” Robyn continues.

“Community Rescue Service carried out searches over multiple days, giving up their time to help bring Caitlin home.

“Their tireless efforts are the reason Caitlin came home to us. For that, we will be forever grateful.

“This walk is for Caitlin. It is for every family who may one day need these services.”

The walk will take place on August 8, 2026 and every penny donated will be turned over to the charity’s benefit.

“Let’s raise as much as we can in Caitlin’s memory and say a massive thank-you to the people who stood beside us when we needed them most,” said Robyn. “Thank-you from the bottom of our hearts.”
