A police Sergeant is encouraging parents to warn young people of the “dangers” of anti-social behaviour following a number of complaints in the Newry Street area of Banbridge.
On Monday December 30, police received a report that young people had been engaging in anti-social behaviour in the Newry Street area.
Just before 9.15pm, the group had been kicking doors and run away, causing distress to residents.
Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Quinn said: “Officers quickly attended the scene, but the young people had left the area.
“We have received several similar reports recently, and our neighbourhood team will continue to engage with local people, focusing our patrols where they are needed and taking positive action where we can.
“We would encourage the community to continue to report crimes or incidents that impact on their quality of life on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
“These young people need to think about the consequences of their actions. I would ask local parents and guardians to speak to their young people about where they are and who they are with, and to warn them of the dangers of getting involved in this type of behaviour.
“Ultimately, they could end up with a criminal record which may impact their future employment and travel prospects.
“We would ask that anyone who may have information on the identity of those involved contact police, quoting reference 1618 30/12/24.”
