Independent councillor Paul Berry was, at the weekend, elected into the new Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon (ABC) super council.
In a statement released, he said: “I wish to place on record my sincere thanks to all the people of the Cusher Ward who voted for me on Thursday past. I am really humbled by their support for me and I was really encouraged with the response on the doors over a four week campaign and how my vote nearly doubled since the last election three years ago.
“I would also thank my election agent Noel Berry (father) and my strong team of local Unionists who came out each night after a days work to help me canvass the towns, villages and hamlets across the Cusher ward. Also my wife Lorna as she gave birth to our third baby Martha just five weeks ago so it has been a hectic time for our family.
“I pledge to continue to work hard for the people of the Cusher Ward in the New Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon Council and I look forward to the challenges ahead.
“This New Authority is a great opportunity for councillors to rise to the challenge and strive to ensure that we deliver efficient council services for all the people of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon and also send a clear message that the second largest council outside Belfast is open for business and inward investment.
“We need to deliver for the rate-payer and also try and attract jobs to the area whilst also supporting our town Centres and I promise to play my part in working constructively for the whole area. I would like to congratulate my other fellow Councillors in the Cusher Ward for getting elected and look forward to working with them in the term ahead.”
