Police have confirmed they are treating a fire at a pub in Tandragee early this morning as arson.
A passer-by spotted smoke coming from the building, formerly Cullens, on the corner of Market Street and Madden Road, at around 5am.
Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and the fire was extinguished.
Minor damage was caused to the premises.
Inspector Kieran Quinn said: “The fire is being treated as arson and we are appealing for witnesses. The number to call is 101.”
If someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
The Madden Road in Tandragee re-opened around 9am.
Cusher Councillor Gareth Wilson said: “This is the second time this property has been targeted in the last few weeks and I understand flammable liquid has been poured in to the property through a side window.
“This incident is yet another blight on the town of Tandragee and people are fast becoming tired of this continuing criminality.
“From recent meetings I have had with police I know that they are stepping up patrols on the town and I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious to contact the PSNI immediately.”
