A mum at the wheel turned round to respond to a child in the back causing the car to collide with another vehicle.
Rebecca Doonan (35), of Cloverdale, Blackskull, caused grievous bodily injury to a female by driving without due care and attention.
She committed the offence at Banbridge Road/Ballynabragget Road, Donacloney, on the morning of Friday September 20 last year.
The case was mentioned at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
A prosecutor said the defendant was driving on the Banbridge Road and as she “turned into the junction her young son, in a car seat in the back of the vehicle, said something, and she turned to speak to him and drifted into the middle of the road and collided with another vehicle who attempted to take evasive action”.
The defendant had no record and also had a clear licence.
A defence lawyer said the defendant entered a guilty plea and there was “genuine remorse”.
He said it was a case of “momentary inattention which has had devastating consequences”.
District Judge Michael Ranaghan said it had been “momentary inattention” which had a “considerable” impact on the victim.
He told the defendant it had been a “very momentary lapse turning round to speak to your child in the back of the car”.
The defendant was banned from driving for 14 months.
