A Portadown man who was caught short by police with urine down the front of his trousers has been slapped with a £25 fine.
The 58-year-old’s solicitor told court: “He has had a problem for a number of years with alcohol for which he is now receiving treatment. He does have a record but nothing of this nature.”
John O’Connor, of Parkside, had a guilty plea to indecent behaviour entered on his behalf at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday.
Prosecution outlined that on May 19, at 12.05am, police on patrol in Portadown spotted a male standing beside an electric box on Woodhouse Street.
Officers observed that he had his hands down the front of trousers and was facing the road.
They approached the male, identified as the defendant, and it was noted that his zip was down and he also had urine on the front of his trousers.
Defence solicitor Joseph McDonald stated: “This is a matter which Mr O’Connor takes very seriously but unfortunately he cannot be here today as he is due for a procedure at Craigavon Hospital.
“He has had a problem for a number of years with alcohol for which he is now receiving treatment. He does have a record but nothing of this nature.”
He added: “There is very little else which can be said.”
O’Connor was ordered to pay a fine of £25, along with the offender’s levy of £15.
