Dungannon community rally to raise funds for family of ‘generous’ and ‘passionate’ sportsman and friend

The Dungannon community have rallied together to help provide financial support to a bereaved family following the sudden death of a beloved husband and father.

Conall ‘Colly’ Donnelly tragically passed away on October 20 leaving behind his heartbroken wife Clare and their two daughters, Caitlin, Chloe.

As a sports fanatic, he was heavily involved with many local clubs where his death also left an unfillable void.

His former GAA club, Killeeshil GFC said they were “plunged into mourning” upon learning of his “untimely” death, describing him as a “cherished member whose presence, dedication, and kindness touched everything we do”.

He gave “generously” to the club, with his time, patience and dedication. Not only did he commit to underage team coaching, he was a “proud and accomplished” goalkeeper and active participant in club fundraisers and charitable events.

As a keen cyclist, he was also a “passionate member” of Clogher Valley Wheelers and a driving force behind the Killeeshil Sportive Cycle – which raised vital funds for the club and community alike.

A fundraising appeal has now been launched by Sean McClenaghan to help give back in Conall’s memory, by ensuring his family have some “comfort and stability” as they attempt to navigate the difficult months ahead.

A description of the appeal on GoFundMe reads: “It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Conall Donnelly — a devoted husband, loving father, cherished friend, and respected colleague. His sudden and untimely loss has left Clare, Caitlin, Chloe, and all who knew him heartbroken.

“Conall was a man of warmth, kindness, and community spirit. He loved sport and spent countless happy hours cycling with the Clogher Valley Wheelers, playing football for Killeeshil St Mary’s GAA, and proudly coaching the Killeeshil U11 girls’ team.

“On the pitch, on the bike, or cheering from the side lines, Conall’s good humour, positivity, and generosity touched everyone he met — family, friends, and colleagues alike.

“At work, Conall was a highly skilled and dedicated worker, respected for his hard work and expertise. He built strong friendships with colleagues and was loved for his great sense of humour, warmth, and positive spirit.

“He leaves behind his beloved wife, Clare, and their two daughters, Caitlin and Chloe, who were the centre of his world.

“In the wake of this tragedy, many people have asked how they can help or show their support.

“This page has been set up to offer a practical way to do so — helping to provide some comfort and stability for Clare, Caitlin, and Chloe as they navigate the difficult months ahead. Contributions will go towards supporting the family as they adjust to life without Conall’s love and presence.

“Any act of kindness — whether a donation or sharing this page — will mean so much and help surround them with the same warmth, care, and community spirit that Conall shared so freely.”

The fundraiser has been set with a target of £9,000 and at the time of writing has already received over £4,000 in donations.

Donations can be made to Conall’s GoFundMe page here.
