Just days after coming across the truly harrowing sight of remains of farm animals dumped in a field, Mid Ulster councillor Kevin McElvogue has now revealed in more detail what he saw, and where he saw it.
The Independent representative for Clogher Valley DEA came upon the scene last Wednesday, April 15. At the time, he was not in a position to divulge the precise location of the sighting, as the matter was being investigated.
He has now issued the following statement: “I was contacted last week about another case of animals being dumped on the roadside of the Tullycorker Road, which is roughly 4.5 miles from Clogher.
“As I stepped out of the car I got the odour of decomposing animals. The first sight I saw was a cow and two sheep dumped over the bank, a calf, several skeletal remains of sheep and several large bags with sheep in them, all within 100 yards of each other.
“It was just like an animal graveyard, above the ground. It was a shocking sight. Whoever is dumping these animals has no respect for anybody.
“They are contaminating our waterways and no telling what harm they are doing to the wildlife, as nobody knows what these animals died of.
“Lots of other stuff is also dumped there, silage cover, round bale wrap, tyres, etc. I’ve contacted Mid Ulster Council about this issue.”
