Mystery surrounds the whereabouts of defibrillator which has gone missing from outside Co Armagh primary school.
Darkley Rural Community Group have issued an urgent appeal after the disappearance of the life-saving equipment from outside’s the village’s primary school.
While carrying out one of their regular safety checks, school staff discovered the device is missing.
A spokesperson for the Group said: “The disappearance of the defibrillator is being investigated and is quite a mystery.
“There is no sign of the box being tampered with and there is no record with the emergency services of the code being sought. The police have been contacted.
“Darkley is a small rural area. We are at least 25 minutes from our nearest hospital and, in the event of a cardiac arrest, time is of the essence.
“This defibrillator is a vital part of our community and, should it be required, could save lives in our community.”
If anyone knows anything about this strange disappearance, please contact Darkley Primary School, Willie Monaghan (Darkley Rural Community Group), or the PSNI.
The spokesperson added: “Our community cannot be without this life-saving equipment and we will work with the school and local charities to have it replaced immediately should it not be recovered.
“This will direct funds away from our efforts to make Darkley a better place to live, and to provide entertainment for our community, but the safety of our community is paramount.”
