A man charged with assault and burglary was granted bail on Friday.
Craigavon Magistrates Court heard that 45-year-old Stephen Dolan is being held at Musgrave Street PSNI station but, due to officers being so busy, he did not appear by videolink.
Defence solicitor Pat Vernon told the court, however, that he was content the case could proceed without the defendant.
Dolan, with an address at Island View, Kinnego, Craigavon, was charged with inflicting actual bodily harm, assault, burglary of a property at Deans Walk in Lurgan with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, criminal damage to a light, attempted intimidation and possessing a firearm other than a handgun without a certificate, all alleged to have been committed on 15 April this year.
It is understood the charges arise following a report just before 4pm when two men allegedly forced their way into the house and assaulted the two men inside, leaving them suffering cuts and bruises.
Giving evidence to the court a police officer said he believed he could connect Dolan to each of the offences and confirmed that “bail has been agreed” but with conditions attached.
District Judge Amanda Henderson freed Dolan on his own bail of £500 with conditions that he is to have no contact with the alleged victims or his co-accused and he is prohibited from taking alcohol.
He is also to observe a curfew and be electronically tagged.
Granting legal aid after hearing that Dolan “is on benefits,”, District Judge Henderson listed the case for mention on 26 June.
It is understood that a second man has been arrested, interviewed and charged and will appear in court on similar offences on Saturday.
