A Lurgan man appeared in court on Monday accused of the sexual abuse of two teenage girls.
In addition to the two offences of engaging in sexual activity with a child aged 13-16, 42-year-old Neil Hull was also charged with using disorderly behaviour close to his home on Orient Circle in Lurgan on May 20 this year.
Appearing at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court by videolink from police custody, Hull confirmed that he understood the three charges against him while a police officer told the court she believed she could connect Hull to each of the charges.
While the facts of the case were not opened during the brief bail application, the officer told the court police were objecting to Hill being freed due to concerns about him committing further offences.
Defence solicitor Sian Downey said that Hull had “made a complete denial” of the offences during police interviews “and he will continue to do that moving forward”.
While Ms Downey argued there was a “presumption in favour of bail” and that conditions could be attached, District Judge Rosie Watters said she shared police concerns so remanding Hull into custody, she adjourned the case to 19 June.
