Man accused of driving whilst disqualified to face Crown Court

The district judge said he was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer

Craigavon Magistrates Court

A man accused of taking a vehicle without permission and driving whilst disqualified is to face the Crown Court in the New Year.

Dmitri Fiodorovas, 28, of Geddis Avenue in Lurgan, appeared charged with driving whilst disqualified, taking a vehicle without authority and using a vehicle without insurance at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday.

As the charges were read out, it was outlined that all of the alleged offences occurred on September 19 on the Tandragee Road in Lurgan.

Standing in the dock, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.

Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence barrister Damien Halloran made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Mark McGarrity said that he was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer.

Fiodorovas was remanded in custody to appear before Craigavon Crown Court on February 2 for arraignment.
