A 40-year-old man was extradited from Spain to Northern Ireland on Tuesday 13th January.
He is wanted to stand trial in Northern Ireland for 91 offences in total. These offences include supply and conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs along with possessing, acquiring and transferring criminal property.
The offences were identified a result of an investigation carried out by the PSNI’s Organised Crime Unit involving the EncroChat encrypted communications platform.
The man was initially arrested in Spain on October 1st 2025 and on Tuesday extradition proceedings were completed with his return to Northern Ireland.
He is expected to appear before Laganside Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 14th January.
Sergeant Davey from the International Policing Unit said: “These very serious offences have been identified as a result of years of detailed investigations by both National and International law enforcement partners working alongside the PSNI’s Organised Crime Unit.
“This extradition demonstrates our commitment to tracking down persons wanted here in Northern Ireland.
“In this case PSNI worked closely with the UK’s Joint International Crime Centre and Spain’s Policía Nacional to locate, arrest and extradite this suspect.
“We will continue to work with our national and international partners to investigate serious criminality and bring offenders before the courts.”
