Work is nearing completion on the new family resource centre for the St Vincent de Paul in Armagh.
It will be located at Chapel Lane and will represent a state-of-the-art facility for use by the local community.
SDLP Newry and Armagh representative Justin McNulty has praised the work of Saint Vincent de Paul and hailed the new development as “a remarkable asset to the local community”.
“There is not a parish or townland that Saint Vincent de Paul doesn’t work in across Ireland and their work is outstanding. Volunteers give selflessly of their time to help the most needy and vulnerable in our society and they have to be commended for this work.
“When completed in a few weeks time, the building in Armagh will be a hive of activity. The facility will offer many classes, from computing to cookery and much more in between.
“This will be a valuable asset to the local community and I know this work will reap great dividends for the future.
“Whist the group will be celebrating this fantastic new facility, they will continue to support the most vulnerable in the community. Their work in providing food and heating supplies often goes unnoticed to many, but makes a massive difference to those they support.
“It was a privilege to walk around the site with local SVDP President Cathy Donnelly, who leads a dedicated team in Armagh, and to view the final stages of the work going on.
“I wish Cathy and her colleagues every success in the months and years ahead and look forward to visiting the facility again in the near future.”
