Newry Agricultural Show is to receive funding to help mark a very special anniversary.
This year, 2018, marks the 150th anniversary of the founding of Newry Agricultural Society and Newry Show.
The group members had set their sights on recording the history of the show and how it is part of the heritage of the local community.
The Society had applied to the Heritage Lottery Fund for help to achieve this goal.
And the funding body has just said ‘yes’.
An award of £8,200 has been approved.
The money will allow Newry Agricultural Society to mark its proud 150 years through collecting memories, photographs, memorabilia and exhibiting these at the show – which takes place this year on June 30 – and at other venues throughout the year.
