Detectives investigating recent burglaries at homes of older people in the Newry area have made an arrest.
A 29-year-old man was arrested yesterday evening, Saturday, October 5, in the city on suspicion of two counts of burglary with intent to steal.
He remains in custody at this time as enquiries into the investigation continue.
The arrest is in connection with a report of a man entering a property in the Loanda Crescent on the pretence of offering gutter cleaning, and also a burglary in the Ardgreen Drive area where a safe and bank card were stolen.
