A man who failed to stop, remain or report after colliding with two other vehicles has been handed a three month disqualification.
The 35-year-old’s barrister told court: “He was disqualified last month for 15 months. He instructs that there was an issue with the handbrake of the vehicle and it rolled whilst parked.”
Gareth Doyle, of Fairgreen Road in Dundalk, had pleas of guilty entered to failing to stop, remain or report an accident at Newry Magistrates’.
Prosecution outlined that on September 11, at 4.10am, police received a report that three males were allegedly trying to break into a vehicle in the Newry area.
Officers arrived and spoke to the males, one of them identified himself as the defendant, explained the car was his and they were attempting to fix the door.
It was established that Doyle’s vehicle had collided with two others in the near vicinity and he was subsequently arrested.
He was interviewed at Lurgan Custody Suite, where he accepted failing to stop, remain or report the collisions.
Defence barrister Conor Byrne stated: “He was disqualified last month for 15 months, he instructs that there was an issue with the handbrake of the vehicle and it rolled whilst parked.”
District Judge Eamonn King disqualified Doyle from driving for three months and ordered that he pay a fine of £225, along with the offender’s levy of £15.
