Tributes have been paid to a Co. Armagh mother and son killed in a fatal crash on the N1 in Co. Louth on Saturday morning.
Mary Faxton, who was in her 80s, and her son Kevin, who was in his 50s, tragically passed away at the scene at Carrickcarnan.
The collision happened at about 2.15am on Saturday.
A third man from Newry was also killed.
Sinn Fein’s Conor Murphy commented: “The third victim of the car crash in Carrickcarnan has been identified as a young man from Newry.
“Devastating news for his heartbroken family who are in our thoughts and prayers as they try to cope with such tragic news.”
Newry Darts League offered its deepest condolences to Mark and Kevin Faxton.
A funeral notice for the family members read: “Kevin and his mother Mary Faxton died suddenly as the result of an accident, 29th February 2020. May they rest in peace.
“Beloved son of Joseph and much loved brother of Malcolm, Carole (Small), Yvonne (Campbell) and David.
Funeral arrangements later. Deeply regretted by his father, sisters, brothers, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces and entire family circle. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.”
Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady said: “There is widespread shock and a deep sadness within the Cloughreagh community as news of the deaths of two family members in the car crash at Carrickarnan which claimed three lives, becomes known. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who have lost loved ones.”
