There have been almost 1,000 new Covid-19 cases reported in Northern Ireland in a situation described as “worsening at an alarming rate” by the Deputy First Minister.
A total of 923 cases were reported in the last 24 hours after 5,783 people were tested for the coronavirus.
It brings the seven day total to 4,674 and has resulted in one further death in that time.
In the last week, Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon has seen 301 cases while there have been 581 reported in Newry, Mourne and Down.
The number of people admitted to hospital because of the virus has risen to 120, with 15 of those in intensive care units.
Deputy First Minister Michelle O’Neill said she and First Minister Arlene Foster have asked for “an urgent conversation” with Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The Executive is meeting today to consider approving heavier fines for breaches of coronavirus laws.
This means, minimum fines in Northern Ireland could rise from £60 to £200.
