A total of six new positive cases of coronavirus Covid-19 have been detected in Northern Ireland.
As of 2pm on Wednesday, March 18, testing has resulted in six new positive cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Northern Ireland to 68.
The total number of tests completed in Northern Ireland is 1,482.
People with mild symptoms – new persistent cough and/or fever – should stay at home and self-isolate. They will not require testing and will not therefore be included in testing totals.
Further information on geographic location of confirmed cases will be provided later this week.
A total of 56,221 people have been tested in the UK, with 53,595 negative and 2,626 positive.
The total in the Republic of Ireland currently stands at 292
Meanwhile, the head of Tourism NI says immediate action is needed by government to help protect 3,000 businesses and 65,000 jobs within the industry as a result of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
John McGrillen told the Stormont economy committee “the Northern Ireland tourism eco-system is closing down”.
