Police in Armagh are urging motorists to exercise care and caution when attending matches at the GAA Athletic Grounds in the city.
It comes as two busy weekends lie ahead, with Grange and Lurgan side St Paul’s battling it out in the Intermediate final this Sunday, October 12, with the Junior and Senior titles due to be decided the following weekend, Sunday, October 19, with Ceide Dwyers facing Collegelands in the Junior and Crossmaglen Rangers taking on Armagh Harps in the Senior.
Police are urging caution in relating to parking around these clashes.
Inspector Kieran Quinn, Armagh Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We have received a number of complaints about parking in the local area around the Athletic grounds during match times.
“Residents and motorists in the Dalton Road, Killylea Road, Monaghan Road, Mullanstown Park and Cregagh Gardens areas are being inconvenienced by parking on these roads.
“We want everyone to be able to come along and support their team so we are asking spectators to use designated car parks and follow directions from marshalls and refrain from parking in the roads mentioned above.
“With everyone’s patience and help we hope to alleviate this issue.”
Armagh City & District Gareth Keating has also urged all those travelling by car to the major Championship games to adhere to parking requests.
The Sinn Féin Councillor stated: “Capacity crowds are expected. I would ask that all motorists travelling to the Athletic Grounds park their vehicles in permitted car parking areas only so that disruption to local residents is kept as best as possible to a minimum.
