Suspected stolen goods were recovered during a follow-up search at a house.
The PSNI in Newry and Mourne arrested a person for shoplifting last week.
And, taking to their hugely popular Facebook page, the officers reveal: “While they were in custody we searched their home address and recovered lots and lots and lots of items we believe to have been stolen.”
Police say they spent today visiting local shopping centres, trying to find out where the goods – which included handbags – had come from, and if they had, in fact, been stolen.
“We had some luck but have a lot of stuff still to work out where it came from,” say police.
“The suspect will return to custody in a few weeks where further incidents of theft will be put to them based on our enquiries around these multitude of items.”
