A man has been arrested following an online paedophile hunter sting in Portadown earlier today (Friday).
The man – aged in his forties – was arrested in the Park Road area of the town this afternoon.
The online volunteer group, who are set up to “safeguard children” and “expose online child predators” confronted the man at his home.
A number of live videos of the “sting” were shared online before police arrived at the scene and removed the man from the property.
A crowd had gathered as the man was led away into a waiting patrol car.
The group claimed the man had been grooming what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl online. It was in fact a decoy set up by the group.
A police spokesperson said: “A man aged in his 40s has been arrested in the Portadown area this afternoon, Friday, April 12. He remains at police custody at this time.”
