A teenager who drove around a traffic island to overtake police has been issued three penalty points.
Kyle Robinson, 18, of Milltown Road, Dungannon, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Court heard that on September 14, at around 1.40am, police on patrol on the Armagh Road, Portadown, were overtaken by the defendant.
Officers observed as Robinson went around a traffic island and drove in excess of the 30mph speed limit.
When interviewed, the defendant made full admission to the police.
Court heard Robinson was a restricted driver and is currently awaiting three penalty points to be added to his licence for a fixed penalty charge.
District Judge Bernie Kelly stated: “Does he not know what a traffic island is for?”
The defendant was handed three penalty points and ordered to pay a fine of £75, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within eight weeks.
